Expanding Scarborough's Successful After-school Program

Cedar Drive Junior Public School in Scarborough Village ranks 63rd out of approximately 473 TDSB schools on the Learning Opportunities Index, with only 16% of Grade 6 students meeting the provincial math standard compared to 51% province-wide.

Northpine Foundation has invested in the Toronto Foundation for Student Success to expand its Beyond 3:30 (B330) after-school program to Cedar Drive, providing free, school-based programming combining academic support, daily physical activity, nutritious suppers prepared with student participation, and enrichment in STEM, arts, and financial literacy.

The venture will serve students in Grades 3–6, with a focus on improving math achievement, attendance, and academic engagement. The expansion is the first step in scaling up the program while retaining quality of delivery and testing whether strong outcomes from the first West Hill location can be replicated.
