Middle School Educational Anchors

Statistics show that youth in care lose 4 to 6 months of learning with every placement move, and more than 60% struggle to re-engage in school amid instability. This often results in middle school disengagement, where less than half graduate high school and only 1 in 5 reach post-secondary.

This Park Street Education initiative aims to counter this, by acting as a virtual "educational anchor," delivering trauma-informed 1:1 tutoring, peer-to-peer resilience sessions, and group enrichment for Grades 6–9 students from care.

The Northpine Foundation investment in this pilot initiative will support programming that blends academics with mentorship from diverse educators, boosting confidence, motivation and self-advocacy, all towards the goal of stemming high school dropout risks, and channeling middle years momentum toward graduation and beyond.
