Northpine Invests in Employment Services for Scarborough Youth

YES Scarborough

Northpine Foundation has invested in a pilot to help youth from Scarborough Neighbourhood Improvement Areas access paid employment.

Northpine Foundation has invested in Youth Employment Services' ScarboroughWORKS pilot to help youth from Scarborough Neighbourhood Improvement Areas access paid employment. The employer-driven model connects disconnected youth (ages 15–29) to verified jobs through community outreach, employer engagement, job-readiness training, one-to-one coaching, certifications, and wraparound supports like transportation and childcare assistance.

The pilot combines community information sessions, hiring events, a student stream into summer/part-time roles, and an intensive stream for higher-barrier youth, with support through the first 90 days of employment to prevent early job loss.

Delivery is anchored in neighbourhood-based community centres and schools across target corridors. Northpine's investment supports a pilot for an integrated, place-based employer-driven model, with verified hires, and retention rates as the measurable outcomes to track.
