Refugee Talent in Food Manufacturing

The Greater Toronto Area sees many refugees, rich with skills and eager to work, blocked by employer bias, language gaps, and weak job links, especially in food and beverage manufacturing, where shortages persist but employers overlook this talent pool.

Northpine Foundation has invested in PTP’s Fresh Start program to bridge this with their proven placement track record in roles like Food Production Workers and Quality Assurance Technicians.

This program offers 6–8 weeks of sector training (literacy, safety, production), personalized matching with industry partners, and post-hire coaching to boost retention, as well as on-demand language and comms training, transport, tech, and wellness supports.
