Northpine Foundation has invested in Journey Home Community to help refugees in Metro Vancouver move from homelessness or imminent homelessness into stable housing, while also building pathways to employment. The program responds to severe housing pressure in the region, where refugees represent a significant share of newcomer homelessness.

The initiative aims to support refugees into permanent housing and meaningful employment by strengthening job readiness, language training, volunteer placements, and employer connections for adults ready to work. Journey Home’s model combines transitional housing using leased units and “meanwhile spaces”, with case management, settlement support, housing education, and employment services.

This investment builds on Jounrey Home’s housing-focused work and adds targeted employment supports to help refugee families sustain housing through increased income and community connection.
