Supporting Refugee Students Through University

The investment supports one-to-one mentorship, cohort-based career readiness workshops, professional networking, and targeted emergency financial assistance for expenses like tuition, textbooks, technology, transportation, and childcare.

Northpine Foundation has invested in Elevate Scholars to help refugee undergraduate students across Canada stay enrolled, progress academically, and complete their degrees. Many refugee students face financial pressures, limited mentorship, and unfamiliarity with Canadian university systems that can lead to dropping courses, delayed graduation, or leaving school altogether.

The program combines one-to-one mentorship, cohort-based career readiness workshops, professional networking, and targeted emergency financial assistance for expenses like tuition, textbooks, technology, transportation, and childcare. Elevate Scholars will support students with individualized persistence plans and term-by-term progress reviews to catch challenges early.

Northpine’s investment will help Elevate Scholars move from a volunteer-led model to a more structured national program with dedicated staffing and stronger outcome tracking.
