Supporting Refugee Women Employment in Calgary

An investment to help refugees move into stable employment through practical training, work experience, and direct employer connections.

Northpine Foundation has invested in Women In Need Society of Calgary to help refugees move into stable employment through practical training, work experience, and direct employer connections.

WINS will provide Retail Ready or Warehouse Ready training, combining classroom learning with hands-on experience in its thrift stores and Donation Centre. Participants will receive workplace language support, safety training, job coaching, and access to wraparound services such as transportation, mental health support, financial coaching, and basic needs assistance.

Over 1.5 years, the initiative aims to support 40 refugees into employment. Northpine’s investment will strengthen WINS’ social enterprise model, which uses revenue-generating retail and recycling operations to create practical, supportive pathways into work and greater financial independence.
