Supporting War-affected newcomer women into meaningful employment

The Excel Empowerment Centre

This investment aims to help war-affected newcomer women in Winnipeg move into meaningful employment in care-sector roles.

Northpine Foundation has invested in The Excel Empowerment Centre Inc. to help war-affected newcomer women in Winnipeg move into meaningful employment in care-sector roles.

This investment will help expand a proven model that connects newcomer women to training, care-sector jobs, and a stronger path out of social assistance.

The program provides a pathway that includes trauma-informed support, English language training, job readiness, childcare, and health care aide or childcare assistant training. It is designed to meet women where they are and help them build toward work that fits their skills, needs, and long-term stability. The aim is for the participants to find employment with local health and childcare employers who continue to face staffing shortages.
